Tommy's First Trip To Philly

We took Tommy with us into Philadelphia on Friday. It was his first trip to the city, so we did what any good Philly tourist should do... we went to the liberty bell & gave him his first cheesesteak! We had a great time hanging out with our family in from Wisconsin and Iowa.

Tommy the Flirt

Here is the video of Tommy flirting with Janine. It was just too cute. I hope this video works!

Big Week!

My sister Carrie is getting married on Saturday. I am so excited for her. She looked so beautiful in her dress during her fittings, I just know she’s going to *glow* on her big day. I’m going to cry my eyes out…my baby sister is becoming a wife! It’s overwhelming and is exciting. I am hoping she has an amazing day. It’s been a long engagement in many ways and she deserves all the happiness in the world. She and Brett are so happy together, I’m delighted that I get to be a part of their special day!

We have a ton of family coming in for Carrie and Brett’s wedding. My "sis" Janine came in over the weekend (she's from Germany) and has been doing some traveling around the East Coast while visiting with us. She spent the night here on Sunday. It was so nice to have her here. It’s been 2 or 3 years since her last visit so we’ve had a lot to catch up on. My cousin Jamie is flying in today. He’ll be staying here at the house with us. I can’t wait to hang out with him! The Neuverth family is set to come in on Thursday (I think), and we have some other close friends coming in from Wisconsin on either Thursday or Friday. Carrie has some good friends coming in from all over the U.S. too. It’s going to be an action packed weekend filled with good friends and loving family. I can’t think of anything better! I’m pretty sure we’re going to go into Philly for Cheesesteaks and a bit of sight seeing on Friday (Tommy’s first visit to Philadelphia!!), followed by the rehearsal (& dinner)… then Saturday is the big day! Sunday we’re hosting a BBQ at our house. Carrie and Brett aren’t leaving until Monday for their honeymoon in St. Lucia, so we’re going to have one more day of celebrating with the out-of-town guests.

Saturday is also the day Tommy turns two months old! My little boy is growing up so quickly. It’s amazing how much he has changed over the last two months. I really love this “age.” He’s focusing so much more. He looks at things and reacts to them. I just love when he looks at me and smiles. I think he feels the love Tony and I have for him. He gets to go to the ceremony with Tony on Saturday, then we’re going to take him over my MIL’s house for the afternoon. We’ll pick him up on Saturday night. We bought this cute little polo-shirt onesie, and black pants for him to wear. We really wanted to buy a little suit for him, but couldn’t find anything small enough to fit him. I’m glad he’ll be at the ceremony. It’ll be great to tell him that he attended his first wedding at two months old & I’m hoping we can get plenty of pictures of him with his Aunt Carrie as a bride.

Today, Tommy and I are just doing some light chores while we semi-patiently wait for family to arrive later on tonight. I think he knows something wonderful is going on because he’s been smiling and laughing all morning.

Tommy staring at Janine. He kept flirting with her, it was adorable!!
Tommy laughing at me. He kept moving while I tried to snap the picture, and I was laughing while he was laughing...so its blurry.

Tommy enchanted by his mat. He thinks the yellow butterfly is hilarious (it makes a crunching noise when touched), and he bats his arm at the flying bug overhead.

Here's a quick video I took of Tommy playing on his mat this morning (I hope everyone can see it. I had to do a quick one so that it would not be too "large" for the blog).

Friday the 13th

Yesterday was my wedding anniversary. I can’t believe its been four years. It seems like it was just yesterday that I walked down the aisle to become Tony’s wife. I was looking through my scrapbook yesterday and remembered what a great day it was. One of the greatest days of my life! We celebrated by ordering our favorite sandwiches (from Primos’) for dinner and going to see the new Indiana Jones movie while my MIL watched the baby. I had wanted to go to a fancy dinner to celebrate, but as it turns out the time we spent together last night was more enjoyable and memorable than any expensive and stuffy restaurant would have been. We saw “Indy” at the Ritz, which in my opinion is really the only theater to see a movie in. It’s clean, the seats recline, they have a “no kids” rule (no annoying teenagers!!), and best of all, they have a coffee shop with the best Mochaccino (chocolate cappuccino) I’ve ever had! (Going on a week night was great – there were only about 10 people watching the movie with us!) We got to the theater about ten minutes before the movie began, found our seats, and sipped our coffee. Tony held my hand almost the entire night, which is a something we rarely get to do now with our little wiggler (Tommy) at home. It was “us” time that neither of us realized how much we needed. The movie itself was great – there was admittedly one part of the movie that could seem little far-fetched, but having gone with prior knowledge of the story behind the mystery of the crystal skulls and keeping in mind that the movie is set in 1947, it makes sense. Indiana Jones has always been one of my heroes. Watching those movies as a kid was part of the reason for wanting to study History in college. For the longest time I wanted to be an archeologist. No matter how many times I see the movies, I am still completely fascinated by them and I’m glad this latest installment left me feeling just as I do when I watch the first three.

Today is Friday, the 13th! It makes me wish for thunderstorms, a bowl of popcorn, and as many scary movies as I can cram into one night.

I hope it’s a nice weekend. Tony built a pergola on part of our concrete slab in our backyard. We’re hoping to stain and seal the wood this weekend. We’re still trying to decide whether we want to put our 6-person table set underneath it, or if we would like to get some comfy lounge chairs for it. We are planning on adding some hanging plants, as well as covering the top with ivy or some kind of flowering vine. Tony did an amazing job building it. I can’t wait to go out on a Saturday morning and sit underneath it while I sip my morning coffee. Here's a picture of it (photo doesn't do it justice). Isn't it great though! You can almost picture the hanging plants (I'm thinking hot pink or baby blue flowers) and ivy hanging overhead.

Just Some Pictures

Tommy is starting to focus on things now. Its great to see his face light up when he is being entertained, everything is so exciting, and there's so much for his little eyes to explore. Here are a few pictures from this week. The first one Tony and I took the other day. I was preparing bottles and Tony noticed Tommy kept opening his mouth every time he brought him near them...so of course I grabbed the camera for a shot! It was really funny. Tommy is so entertaining! haha. The second is a mirror toy in his crib, if he's fussing I'll lay him in his crib so that he can see the mirror toy and he tends to calm himself down. (I also play his little musical jungle toy for him). The other pictures I took today. He was up for part of the morning so I was giving his little cheeks kisses and making him laugh. Eventually...he got bored.

The time is going by so quickly, I just love spending my days with him.

Two Peas In A Pod

Today my good friend Malinda and her new little daughter Amelia came over for a playdate. Amelia is less than a day older than Tommy. I am so excited to watch the two of them grow up together. I hope that they can be as good of friends as Malinda and I are. Thanks for visiting ladies, we had a blast! Last night Tony and I gave Tommy a bath, and it was just too cute - he kept yawning through it - that is until I washed his hair, he was not pleased about that! Here’s a picture of his bath time as well as him in his Gator robe!

For PopPop

My Dad requested some new pictures of the little guy... so... here you go! This post is for you PopPop!

We really enjoy going for walks around the neighborhood. It gives Tony and I a chance to talk, the baby enjoys being pushed in his stroller, and even Maverick's a good boy! Naps are fun. Tommy Hanging Out With Daddy.Just taking a quick nap during belly time.
