Last Tuesday my girlfriend Malinda and I attended a seminar on breast feeding. I’ve been having the internal argument with myself about breast feeding, and recently had a bad experience with someone who was so Pro-BF that it scared the heck out of me. I’ve never really felt comfortable with the whole concept so I attended the seminar just to get a little more information and perhaps a different perspective (the seminar is part of a bunch of free ones that Babies R Us offers for expectant parents). Unfortunately, now I’m even less thrilled with the idea than I was previously. The seminar was good – very informative. I got some wonderful information on pumping, but the video they had us watch about breastfeeding just helped in my final decision that breast feeding is just not for me. Instead, I hope to pump. I figure, at least this way the baby will still get the nutrition he needs, just without that physical aspect.
Tony and I are attending another seminar tomorrow night. This one is about infant care. I take care of toddlers all day long, so I’m pretty confident on some of the basics & on how to change a diaper, but I don’t think it’ll hurt to hear about what to expect when my little guy comes home from the hospital. It’ll be something fun that Tony and I get to do together too, so that’s nice. The poor men get left out of so much when if comes to having a baby. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that they give you coupons and free stuff when you attend these seminars!
Tony finished Part 1 of the baby’s room, and it looks fantastic!! We went with this lovely Key Lime Green color for the walls, and painted the ceiling a crisp white. Once we got the furniture in there and looked at the lovely colors that will be in the bedding set we want, it really looked great. I wanted to help paint the baby’s room so badly!!! But once he popped the top open on the paint can, the smell immediately made me feel sick, so I was outta there! My sister-in-law Diana who is a mural artist in Philadelphia (very very talented) is going to get started on Part 2 of the room within the next couple of weeks. She’s going to do a lovely scrolled writing on the walls with the poem “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” then do something with some of the stars and moon shapes in the bedding set. It’s going to look wonderful when she’s done. I’m so lucky to have her to help the room really look unique. Last we’ll have to figure out what to do with the floors then we’ll be all set! I can’t wait to see it all done!
Wednesday morning I go for the dreaded Glucose Test. I’ve heard the texture of this stuff I have to drink is aweful!! I’m just looking forward to it being overwith! Then Thursday morning I’ll wake up and officially be 7 months pregnant! I can’t believe how fast the time is flying by. It’s getting harder to get comfortable in order to sit or rest, forget about bending over lol, and even sleeping has become a slight issue (I snore really badly now lol). I guess its not too easy to carry a bowling ball sized belly around haha. I just keep telling myself it’ll all be over in a couple of months and my sweet baby boy will be in my arms. Makes it all seem pretty worth it (almost).
Here is a picture of Part I of the baby's room - completed. The picture doesn't do the color justice, its soo pretty!
